Let yourself be guided to the summit of the French Pyrenees. The legendary Vignemale (Pique Longue), reaching 3298m, offers an extraordinary panorama of part of the western Pyrenees. The classic route, via the Gavarnie side and the famous Ossoue Glacier, is the most accessible and can be completed in a full day (overnight stay in a mountain refuge is possible). This classic route requires no prior mountaineering experience and is accessible with a guide to any fit and fit hiker. Hiring a guide is essential for learning cramponing techniques and glacier travel, as well as for the final short climb to the summit. It may be necessary to rope up (except when the glacier's snow conditions are extremely favorable), so knowledge of rope techniques is required.

This ascent of Vignemale can be done in a day, but it's a long climb that requires endurance and a certain level of mountaineering ability. You can also choose to spend the night at the Baysselance refuge.The day before. This option reduces the elevation gain on the day of the ascent. You will need to book at the Baysselance refuge and pick up your equipment from our offices before your departure for the refuge. We will require a deposit for the equipment loan. You can reach the refuge either via Gavarnie and the Ossoue dam (approximately 3 hours) or via Cauterets and the Pont d'Espagne (approximately 5 hours). You will then meet the group on the morning of the ascent in front of the Bellevue caves, a 10-minute walk below the Baysselance refuge. If you choose this option, please inform us.

A 10-hour day hike across a glacier with 1500 meters of elevation gain, or 900 meters if you stay overnight in the refuge. This long trek is not for the faint of heart and requires good physical condition and endurance. If you regularly hike in the mountains on routes with 700 to 1000 meters of elevation gain or more, you should have no difficulty reaching the summit.

We confirm the climb starting 48 hours before departure, based on what we hope are reliable forecasts, and may wait until 24 hours before if the forecast is not sufficiently reliable. Only the mountain guides can confirm or cancel the departure based on weather and safety conditions.

We'll meet in front of the Gavarnie village tourist office because there's cell phone service there, unlike at the Ossoue dam, our starting point. The journey between the village and the starting point will be by vehicle on a mountain track, so please drive carefully. We're organizing carpooling, and vehicles will be needed for transportation.

If the minimum number of registered participants for this group climb is not reached, we would propose sharing the cost of hiring a private guide.
