Guided hike to conquer the Brèche de Roland and the Taillon
Immediate
A guided hike in the Gavarnie mountains towards the Brèche de Roland and the 3,000-meter peaks piercing the clouds, with their tumultuous, sparkling waterfalls cascading down the vertical walls like angel hair. The Cirque de Gavarnie opens like a protective cradle to the north, turning its back on the unfathomable canyons of Aragon, carved as if by a gigantic erosive chisel amidst gentle grassy plateaus. This limestone formation, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, holds some of the natural wonders of the Pyrenees, such as the Brèche de Roland, which legend has opened for our greatest pleasure, or the Mont Perdu massif… sometimes shrouded in clouds, or in the realm of imagination!
The 19th century attracted many adventurers to the Pyrenees, mountain lovers seeking ascents and "firsts." Like the Pyrenean mountaineers of that era, we will set out to conquer your first "3000-meter peak." A fabulous viewpoint overlooking the valleys of Gavarnie and the nearby Mont Perdu, the ascent of Taillon will allow us to reconnect with this Pyrenean culture.
A challenging hike designed for experienced hikers in good physical condition. You don't need to be an Olympic athlete, but you should have sufficient endurance for a long mountain hike. The day will be 10 hours outdoors, with 7 to 8 hours of actual walking and 1000 meters of elevation gain.
